This
2004 Cobra was built for Nick Owens, who is an A & P mechanic in Iraq. The
complete car was built in 60 days from a stock car.
Madman & Co. Racing built a 25.2 chassis with a Wolfe double anti-roll and custom
Madman upper and lower control arms. The rear end is a fabricated 9" Ford, built
in-house with 40 spline axles and a 3.20 Pro Gear. AFCO supplied the rear double
adjustable shocks. The front is an AJE K-member with geometry corrected by
Madman. The front struts are from Santhuff. Bogart supplied the 15 x 3.5 and 15
x 12 wheels, while Mickey Thompson supplied the 315 drag radials. This car
features a complete turbo
kit fabricated for the 106 mm Turbonetics turbo. Shexnayder Racing built the
414" all aluminum engine and the Powerglide transmission. FAST XFI controls the fuel
injection, and MSD controls the spark.
The car was finished and assembled in time for Nick to come home and run the
car's maiden race - the
World Ford Challenge #10. Nick and his crew chief, Matt Case, won the event, running a 7.96 @ 179.47. In the works now is a twin turbo
setup which will include a set of 91 mm Turbonetics turbos.
